About my journey..
With nearly three decades of industry experience, I am a professional and an absolute yachting enthusiast.
My journey began with a passion for adventure, inspired by my upbringing in a military family and a mentor who encouraged me to pursue a dynamic career. After completing a seamanship program in 1997, I ascended from deckhand to captain, gaining valuable at-sea and industry experience in yacht operations, new construction, and shipyard management.
In 2005, I transitioned ashore, joining the industry's business side. I was key in outfitting over sixty new builds ranging from 40 to 160 meters in leading shipyards worldwide. Enjoying construction and a good challenge, I joined a build team in 2011; later, in 2014, that vessel was recognized and awarded. Since 2013, I have provided expert consulting and independent support services to discerning clients regarding vessel purchasing, shipyard projects, and onboard operational management via IYS while continuing to captain private yachts.

About being captain..
As a captain, you should take pride in offering ethical representation and hands-on leadership to ensure a seaworthy vessel while cultivating an environment for everyone to enjoy. Being a captain entails vast responsibilities. To be an effective captain, one must possess integrity, accountability, and a continual commitment to communication, ethical leadership, humility, and respect. To be regarded as a good captain and representative for your employer, the asset, and fellow crew, one must possess a well-rounded operational and industry knowledge and life experience.
Many assume that captaining a vessel or being a crew is merely about driving and hospitality services. Contrary to the media, captain, and crew are maritime-focused positions with hospitality services. As captain, your focus is managing risk, schedules, expectations, personalities, logistics, relationships, and, most importantly, communications. Sometimes, this involves delivering good and bad news, which options and a solution should always accompany.

I prefer private-use yachts within the 80’ -130’ size range. Yachting is a passion-based industry that should serve the owner’s desired interests and provide unique experiences. In contrast, the owner of a charter vessel is primarily focused on the chartering business, which detracts from yachting's uniqueness.
While I obtain vast refit, new construction, industry, and operational experience onboard yachts up to 154’/47m. I prefer the 80’ -130’ size range most. I believe it allows for personalized ownership and unique usage experiences without extensive operations and overhead complexities. I’ve been told that some of the best onboard owner experiences are those kept personal and seemingly small and simple. However, vessels within this size range have their own design, storage, and accommodation limitations. When utilized sensibly, they offer owners and crew the ability to create more scalable, personalized regional itineraries.

About my hats..
"I just may have the perfect face for radio." Understanding appearance is essential for some programs; below are a few photos that properly display my hands-on and all-around positive nature. I have worn a few different hats in various seats around the industry table, but that is what is required to gain the experience needed to be a captain, representative, or asset manager at this level.
